New Year Break – enjoy some peace and quiet on the Solway coast.
New Year does not have to be a crazy, party popper booze fest. In fact at Cavens we have all that is needed for you to get away for a New Year break and some relaxation - perhaps some time to yourselves after Christmas. Catch up with yourself in the seclusion and luxury of Cavens.
Let us welcome you to our home – a delightful, cosy peaceful retreat near the coast. With just 7 guest rooms, spacious lounges and log fires we also know our guests appreciate some good, unpretentious country cooking along with fine wines. “Cavens was very special escape for our anniversary stay with you – couldn't have been better” as a recent guest wrote to us.
So here is our Hogmanay for you to share with us.
30 December
Arrive in time on 30 December for complementary afternoon tea (with mince pies if you like) around 4 pm
Enjoy a leisurely three course dinner feauturing local fresh produce.
31 December
Full Scottish Breakfast 9.00 - 10.00
Enjoy the last day of the year out and about the area - a drive along the coast to Kirkcudbright - the artist town.
If you are not going out then some hot home made soup and fresh sandwiches will be available
Afternoon tea by the fire at 4pm
Champagne Reception with canapés from 7.30 – 8.00, but come down when it suits during this time you as tables are individual - so there’s no rush.
5 course dinner and coffee will be served in the lounges
1 January
Full breakfast/brunch will be served from 10.00 until 12.00. But for eager risers, orange juice and tea and coffee will be available from 9.00 in the lounge.
A couple of ideas for getting out and about. Drive to nearby Rockcliffe, park there and walk across the beautiful headland owned by NTS to the village of Kipford.
Although the visitor centre at Threave Gardens at Castle Douglas is closed, you can gain access to the gardens and donate to the honesty box at the entrance.
